I cover my face to become someone else and take on a different persona. I become a character I’ve named Valentine. There’s something special about facepaint that sets it apart from other makeup. Society tells us who we should be and what we should look like but honestly, the only one who can decide who we are is ourselves. We should be the makers of our own identities. In this picture, I capture nature and life together to visually represent my definition of “still life."
