Untitled, Maathusan Sivakumar, 2020

I consider myself a videographer more than a photographer. And for this project, I wanted to show still life in a different way. The message of the image is still life, but I think my interest in the process offers something more. Because it was hard to capture this effect I wanted to with a regular photo camera and a basic setup, the image I created was shot in a video camera with a higher fps. Then, it was slowed down and processed before I converted it to a single frame, which resulted in the image I wanted to use.
With my image, I'm conveying the message as the orange travels through the water and as it slows down, it eventually becomes completely still. I feel we are in a still life situation now like the orange. We were travelling in a crazy fast phased world, but now, we have stilled our lives to one place.
