Fragmented Transfiguration, Keeyan Suazo, 2021

I embark on the challenge of showing the passage of time and creating a tangible representation of change itself. The inspiration behind this piece was a banana and how it changes constantly. Over the course of two months, I photographed this specific still life setup (containing fruits and vessels from around my house) every day. I shot over 600 photographs, and using over 100 of these photographs, I constructed a digital collage with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. This piece displays the beauty of death and decomposition and how minute changes in our lives compile and influence our whole self. The use of clashing colours created an unsettling atmosphere, suggesting a feeling of disruption. Time is interminable and can leave one feeling melancholic. Even though sometimes we want everything to remain the same, change will inevitably come.
