The theme “still life” strongly connects to 2020, as living through a global pandemic has caused us to be still in our physical surroundings. When I think of still life I think that either time is moving or we are moving through time. As a photo is a moment captured in time I decided to snapshot the feeling of joy and tools of creation to portray them in a still, aesthetically pleasing moment in time. The objects that I have chosen represent a variety of textures and striking colours; with deeper meaning such as the skeleton of the seashell and the possibility of growth with a growing plant reaching up towards the light. My work has a very colourful effect with bright and generally happy colours. I would like the viewer to think about what makes them happy and reflect on things that bring them joy.
