The purpose of our clothing goes beyond its practical function. It is a form of expression that often goes without thought, yet plays an important role in the expression of our identities. These pieces, even when unworn, still represent the people we are and the lives we live. I am interested in these ideas, so I chose to integrate them into the theme of my work.
During this time of isolation, I have noticed the changes in my environment, most commonly my home. I have been thinking about the items that surround me, and questioning their purpose. This image looks at the clothes that have been sitting still and worn less. We are in a time of dramatic change in terms of our socialization, and the purpose of the items we surround and express ourselves with. I explored this theme through layered images of clothing worn rotationally and set in the same place. The items that visually represent ourselves most mimic the life we currently live.
