When given the prompt of “still life”, it was a challenge to pinpoint a time where I had focused on taking still life images, instead of landscapes, candids or random everyday photos. After being inspired by how other photographers set up their pictures, I explored the theme in my own way,
At the time, Alberta was back to online school, so to get out of the house, my mom took me on a walk. The green space we went to had a few props including pine cones, twigs and coniferous leaves. This was one of the first pictures I took, trying to create a shape that wouldn’t be naturally found in the environment. I cleared the tree stump before setting up the scene. It was a windy day, so I was lucky to get this shot after a few attempts.
The idea I would like to impart is to not focus too hard on perfection or not knowing what to do. Sometimes embracing the beauty in the moment is enough.
