Darkened Sky, Hannah Emptage, 2020

When taking this photo, I thought of the theme of Still Life and how I could capture that feeling of stillness in my photo. I wanted to capture that feeling of objects moving, trees blowing and cars moving, but you are completely still, like when your mind is fixated on one thing. I liked how in my image the tree is almost like an outline, how you can see the highlights and shadows in the clouds.
The driving force behind my work is the ability to capture emotions in a single photo, a feeling of happiness, sadness, anger, or any emotion I feel. When I take photos, there is no set story. I like how people can look at the photo and become drawn into the possibilities. To me, art is how you see it, there can be a set story,  but there doesn't have to be. I like how photography has no set rules, how you can take any photo you want. As long as you like your photo, that all that matters.
