This piece illustrates the unrestrainable, infinite nature of creativity, and portrays what the psychological process of creative expression is to me; starting from nothingness and coming from stagnation to life. Creativity can be likened to the ocean for a number of reasons as it is our point of origin and the source of many strange and beautiful creations. The ocean also reflects the mind. As one sinks deeper into this pool of possibility and discovery, creative potential begins to open up and come into focus. The artist becomes increasingly absorbed in their work, until creation consumes creator, rendering art and artist inseparable. Sea anemones in this piece symbolize creativity, taking over and taking on a life of its own.
