Consumerism, Aydin Kirdemir, 2020

Aydin realized he wanted to start a career with art in 2016, he discovered his love for photography after being given a digital camera from his grandparents. He has continued developing his skills throughout his education and is pursuing the arts in high school currently. Photographers that inspire him are Stephen Shore and Alec Soth, these artists work with colour and composition beautifully.
When creating work Aydin often finds inspiration from other photographers as well as his own emotions and core beliefs. The environment is also an inspiration for him, things like overcast skies and empty streets help convey his stories. He is also inspired heavily by social issues like consumerism and economic deprivation which is reflected through his photography.
Aydin would like viewers to think twice about their consumption. Through his piece “Discarded” he looks at the products that many people have gotten rid of or frankly don't care about anymore. He hopes that through his photography change occurs, whether that be someone repurposing an item or switching their daily habits.
